Project description

As part of the introduction of an APS (Advanced Planning & Scheduling) planning tool, an interdisciplinary core team across locations, supported by REDPOINT, created the organizational and procedural framework conditions for successful implementation and use. The introduction of a modern planning philosophy, which is reflected in clear processes and a process-oriented organizational structure, will lead to greater transparency in the value creation processes, better OTD (OnTimeDelivery) and significantly lower planning costs.

About the project

MAN Energy Solutions’ technology portfolio covers a very broad spectrum of different product groups and applications, which are mainly produced for customers in individual production (ETO-Engineer to order & MTO-Make to order). The challenges for planning the value chain include managing a complex planning picture (high vertical integration with various production versions, extensive and growing parts lists, etc.) as well as high dynamics in the short range. With the implementation of an APS system, the supply chain organization is to be supported on the IT side with the aim of being able to plan and control the value-adding processes significantly better, taking into account deadlines as well as material and capacity restrictions.

Thanks to REDPOINT’s expertise, the project risk was significantly reduced in view of the high technical, social and organizational complexity of the software implementation and the resulting need for change, and a pragmatic but sustainable implementation concept was developed for MAN ES at the Oberhausen and Berlin sites with minimal resource expenditure.

In addition to the software implementation, an APS introduction also includes the reengineering of the business processes and planning workflows carried out by REDPOINT with the aim of creating the conditions for efficient supply chain management for MAN ES.

The tailor-made processes developed in the project optimize the planning and continuous synchronization of the entire process chain and contribute to ensuring the long-term competitiveness of MAN Energy Solutions.
